VESTAL, N.Y. -- Robert Mansell scored 18 points and Binghamton held off Vermont 57-53 to win its first game of the season Tuesday night, snapping a 27-game losing streak and shedding the dubious distinction of being the only winless team in Division I.

"To see the happiness on their faces was uplifting," said Bearcats coach Mark Macon.

The win is the ninth straight for the Catamounts as they improve to 18-10 overall and move into first place in the America East standings with a 12-2 mark.

BURLINGTON, Vt.  – Freshman Four McGlynn netted a career-high 24 points to lead the Vermont men's basketball team to a 68-49 victory over Stony Brook at home in America East action on Sunday afternoon. The win is the eighth straight for the Catamounts, as they now control their own destiny to win the league championship after knocking off the first-place Seawolves and improve to 17-10 overall and 11-2 in conference play.

The Billikens outscored the Catamounts 28-16 in the second half to improve to 8-1 on the year, while UVM falls to 4-5 with the loss. Sophomore Luke Apfeld led Vermont with 13 points.
