According to Jay Gomes of NJHoops.com, Mike Lonergan and the Vermont Catamounts have landed their first 2010 recruit.
6-foot-9 Cherokee Senior Ryan McKeaney has given a verbal to attend the University of Vermont to play basketball in the Fall of 2010.
Vermont had been recruiting him for some time, according to the article. Also he apparently had a solid camp performance at Hoop Group Elite earlier this week that attracted more attention. However, he puled the trigger and made the decision to join the Catamonts. He had previously taken visits to Boston University and Fairfield.
McKeaney helped lead Cherokee to a 21-5 mark. NJ Hoops ranked him 32nd in the state last season.
According to Gomes, "McKeaney has a decent first step and has the ability to score in the post. His best basketball is still ahead of him.
Welcome to Catamount Country Ryan. We look forward to seeing you don the green and gold.
