Young guard...some tough competition early.
At The Hoop Group Elite Team Camp this summer, a class of 2011 point guard, Derrick Millinghaus of Schenectady (NY) showed everyone in the gym that he was for real, as he went for 26 points and about a dozen assists in a 14-point day one upset win over St. Patrick's (NJ). At that point the 5'10 floor leader was getting minimal college interest, but since then his list has expanded. Fordham (offer), Fairfield, Iona,
Vermont, LSU, Syracuse, Penn State, Northeastern, and UMES are the programs that he lists now, with SU and PSU as his favorites. Although Derrick has yet to take any visits, he will be checking out Fordham on October 3rd and then Fairfield on October 10th. Millinghaus will be "going [to a] prep [school] next year," as he will be ineligible to play at Schenectady as a senior. "I don't know what prep school I'm going to yet, [but I'm going] because I won't be eligible to play next year because my birthday comes before September.
