Joe O'Shea 2010 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 2
I saw the championship game the other night, and even though O'Shea had an off night (only 5 points and 8 boards) he was clearly the best player on the floor the whole game. He is LONG, makes very good decisions and has sweet stroke. He is a lefty too. About 6-4, 6-5 already, he is only 15 mind you, I can say without a doubt he is the best high school prospect/player in the state. The defenses really try to pack it in on him, but in college he really projects as a long guard who is a shooter, and he won't be a superstar in college, but I think he would be a really good complimentary player that could contribute in the AE. The knock would be he is a bit slow, but come on, a kid like Kyle Cieplicki was slow in high school too and look where he is now. That is who Joe reminds me of in some ways when they both played in HS. He will be a scholarship player when all is said and done, and it would be nice to see him locked up here.

Kind of random, but he got a mention on St. Bonaventure's message board. Perhaps their fans want him to be recruited, hahaa.

Actually, that link I posted says (message board talk, take that for what it is worth) that O'Shea has family in the area of St. Bona and is getting looked at by them...it also makes sense from the standpoint that their coach, Mark Schmidt played a BC with Joe's uncle Tim who is the HC at Ohio U, and Schmidt's first coaching gig? St. Michael's College, coached by none other than Joe's dad.

I don't really see Joe as an A-10 player, but then again, nobody thought Matt Glass was A-10 caliber either, and he is actually doing decent for a freshman at UMass this season.

Looks like O'Shea is playing his AAU ball with an out of state club this summer. He is mentioned as doing well in an Article on NERR. They are called _expression_s, which I am guessing is _base_d out of Mass.

Found this while making that list...is O'Shea still on UVM's radar? I remember seeing he had a lot of Ivy interest from Yale, Brown, Princeton I think.

"Joe had a couple nice drives to the rim from the outside. He doesn't get a lot of opportunities on this loaded team, but he did rebound the ball pretty well."

JP, the kid went to the school that could give him the most playing time. Unfortunately he wouldn't get much here at UVM.

Good talent, good kid and best of luck at Holy Cross!

The entire episode reminds me of Jim McCaffrey of Rutland a few decades ago when he ended up at HC, with a stop at St. Mike's. Much different scenario, but same end result.

The article says he wanted to go away for college. I have no problem with that. Good luck to him. He reminded me of a lefty version of Kyle Cieplicki in high school. If he becomes what Kyle was for us in his junior and senior seasons, Holy Cross got themselves a nice piece of the puzzle.
